Liebe deutsche Roundnet-Community,
wir möchten euch transparent über das RG-interne und den weltweiten IRF-Wahlprozess informieren, da wir überzeugt sind, dass dies ein wichtiger Teil ist, um eine große Akzeptanz für die Entscheidung innerhalb der Roundnet Rule Revolution (RRR25) zu schaffen.
Am Dienstag, 30. September, wurde von der International Roundnet Federation (IRF) die Umfrage mit allen aufbereiteten Testergebnissen der Regel-Testpakete inklusive einer Empfehlung für jede zur Wahl stehende Regel des RRR25-Teams an alle nationalen Mitgliedsverbände (NGB) verschickt. Abgestimmt wird nicht für ein zusammengefasstes Regelpaket (bspw. Paket A, B oder C), sondern über jede Regeln einzeln. Es wird nur über Regeln abgestimmt, die innerhalb der Testphasen auch bereits getestet wurden.
Bis zum Abend des 15. Oktober haben nun alle stimmberechtigten NGBs (Full und Provisionl Members) Zeit ihre Stimmen abzugeben, wobei jedes Land eine Stimme hat und am Ende eine einfache Mehrheit aller gültigen Stimmen über das Annehmen oder Ablehnen einer Regel entscheidet. Wir rechnen zeitnah danach mit einer Verkündung der Ergebnisse und damit gleichzeitiger Übernahme ins international gültige Regelwerk.
Folgende Regeln stehen zur Abstimmung:
- Allgemein
- Das Teammitglied der annehmenden Person darf sich während des Aufschlags in einer Linie bewegen.
- Bigger Ball
- Aufschlag
- 3 Sekunden Zeit für den Aufschlag
- Kein Same-Hand-Toss
- Aufschläge dürfen nicht in der No-Drop-Zone (=No-Hit-Zone) landen
- Gleiche Anzahl an Aufschlägen für jede*n Spieler*in (Equal Serving V2) – “Tischtennis-Regel”
- inklusive Unterscheidung zwischen den Kategorien Open, Women & Mixed
- Angriff/Hitting
- Drei Berührungen beim ersten Ballbesitz nach Aufschlag erforderlich
- Vergrößerung der No-Hit-Zone inklusive folgender Abstufungen
- Open: 110cm oder 100cm Radius
- Women: 100cm oder 90cm Radius
- Mixed: Spieler*innen-spezifische Größe (Möglichkeit von unterschiedlichen Größen) oder alle Spielenden mit 100cm Radius
- Einführung einer Auslinie (Boundary)
- inklusive Abstimmung über 8,50m oder 9,00m Radius
- Angriffsschläge dürfen nicht in der No-Drop-Zone (=No-Hit-Zone) landen
- Defensive
- Kontinuierlicher Kontakt bei erster Berührung/kontinuierlicher Bewegung zulässig
- Nicht-aufschlagende Person darf sich frei außerhalb der Aufschlaglinie bewegen
Innerhalb von Roundnet Germany haben wir uns als Vorstand dazu entschieden, in den nächsten Tagen ein Meinungsbild aus allen Referaten einzuholen, die am sportlichen Spielbetrieb beteiligt sind. Dies sind die vier Referate Turnierbetrieb, Ligabetrieb, Nationalteam sowie Leistungssport & Fortbildung.
Diese Referate sind von den Regeländerungen direkt betroffen und fungieren gleichzeitig als Expert*innengremien, die die Spielenden und Turnierorganisierenden vertreten.
Letztendlich wird der Vorstand anhand des eingeholten Meinungsbildes eine Entscheidung treffen und die Stimmen für Deutschland abgeben – dabei werden wir sowohl die Sicht der Aktiven als auch die organisatorische Sicht (Hallenturniere etc.) einnehmen und bestmöglich abwägen.
Anschließend an die Verkündung der Ergebnisse durch die IRF werden wir die Regeln in das Deutsche Regelwerk aufnehmen und zur Anwendung kommen lassen. Wir bauen auf den Zusammenhalt der internationalen Roundnet-Community, dass alle anderen Länder diesen Regeln ebenfalls folgen und keine Alleingänge im Sinne national abweichender Regeln gemacht werde, da dies der Integrität der IRF sowie der Entwicklung der Sportart schaden würde.
Aufgrund der zeitlichen Nähe zum 1. Spieltag in der Deutsche Roundnet Liga (1. & 2. Bundesliga am 18. Oktober sowie Regionalliga am 25. Oktober) gelten für diese Spieltage – unabhängig von einer möglichen Verkündung der Regeländerungen durch die IRF wenige Tage vor dem Spieltag – weiterhin Sonderregelungen, die bereits über das Ligareferat an die Teams kommuniziert worden sind.
In der 1. Bundesliga wird am 1. Spieltage entsprechend mit dem Regelpaket C inklusive Bigger Ball gespielt. Die 2. Bundesliga und Regionalliga spielen ebenfalls mit Regelpaket C, allerdings ist hier die Nutzung von Bigger Balls nur vorgesehen, wenn sich alle Teams einer Spieltagsgruppe einstimmig auf den Einsatz einigen.
Das finale, neue Regelwerk für alle Ligaspieltage sowie Turniere (indoor & outdoor) wird dann ab dem 1. November 2025 zur Anwendung kommen. Der MRC Post Season Cup 2.0 am 1. & 2. November wird entsprechend das erste Turnier mit dem neuen Regelwerk sein.
Insights into the rule voting process within the framework of RRR25

We would like to provide you with transparent information about the internal RG and global IRF election process, as we believe this is an important part of creating broad acceptance for the decision within the Roundnet Rule Revolution (RRR25).
On Tuesday, September 30, the International Roundnet Federation (IRF) sent out a survey to all national governing bodies (NGBs) with all the test results for the rule test packages, including a recommendation for each rule up for election by the RRR25 team. Votes will not be cast for a combined rule package (e.g., package A, B, or C), but rather for each rule individually. Only rules that have already been tested during the test phases will be voted on.
All NGBs (full and provisional members) eligible to vote have until the evening of October 15 to cast their votes, with each country having one vote and a simple majority of all valid votes deciding whether a rule is accepted or rejected. We expect the IRF to announce the results shortly thereafter and for them to be incorporated into the internationally valid rules and regulations at the same time.
The following rules are up for vote:
- General
- Receiver’s Teammate can move in a line during the serve
- Bigger Ball
- Serving
- 3 seconds on serve
- No Same Hand Toss
- Serves can’t land in no drop zone (=No-Hit-Zone)
- Same number of serves for every player (Equal Serving V2) – “table tennis rule”
- including possible distinction between the categories Open, Women & Mixed
- Hitting
- Three touches required on first possession
- Enlargement of the no-hit zone, including the following levels
- Open: 110cm or 100cm radius
- Women: 100cm or 90cm radius
- Mixed: The players play the size of their respective division (possibility of different sizes) or everyone plays the same size of 100 cm, regardless of their size in the separate division (same size).
- Out of Bounds (Boundary)
- including vote on the radius of 8,50m or 9,00m
- Hits can’t land in no drop zone (=No-Hit-Zone)
- Defense
- continuous contact allowed on first touch/continuous motion
- Non server free to move outside service circle
Within Roundnet Germany, we as the board have decided to gather opinions from all departments involved in sporting operations over the next few days. These are the four departments: tournament operations, league operations, national team, and competitive sports & training.
These departments are directly affected by the rule changes and also act as expert committees representing players and tournament organizers.
Ultimately, the board will make a decision based on the opinions gathered and cast the votes for Germany—in doing so, we will take into account both the views of the active players and the organizational perspective (indoor tournaments, etc.) and weigh them up as best we can.
Following the announcement of the results by the IRF, we will incorporate the rules into the German rulebook and apply them. We are counting on the solidarity of the international roundnet community that all other countries will also follow these rules and that no unilateral decisions will be made in terms of nationally deviating rules, as this would damage the integrity of the IRF and the development of the sport.
Due to the proximity to the first match day in the German Roundnet League (1st & 2nd Bundesliga on October 18 and Regionalliga on October 25), special regulations that have already been communicated to the teams by the league department will continue to apply to these match days, regardless of any possible announcement of rule changes by the IRF a few days before the match day.
In the 1st Bundesliga, the 1st match day will be played according to rule package C, including bigger balls. The 2nd Bundesliga and Regional League will also play according to rule package C, but the use of bigger balls is only planned if all teams in a match day group unanimously agree to their use.
The final, new set of rules for all league match days and tournaments (indoor & outdoor) will then come into effect on November 1, 2025. The MRC Post Season Cup 2.0 on November 1 & 2 will be the first tournament to use the new rules.
